It’s A Big Football Weekend In Charlotte!

CHARLOTTE, NC. — It’s a big football weekend in Charlotte! Nearly 70,000 people are expected to pack Bank of America Stadium for the ACC Championship game, featuring the Clemson Tigers and the Virginia Cavaliers.

The game is big business for the city.

Last year it had an economic impact of $28.7 million. The Charlotte Regional Visitors Authority says that includes an estimated $15.5 million in direct visitor spending.

“You come here and there are other things to do as well instead of just the game,” says one fan.

As for getting around Charlotte, look out for road closures around the stadium, similar to those during a home Panthers game.

CATS is increasing LYNX Blue Line service on Saturday to accommodate people heading to the game. Service will increase for two hours before and after the game. Crews will be monitoring the amount of riders in order to adjust run times as needed.
