CHARLOTTE, NC–On Saturday, officers responded to a single vehicle crash on Wilkinson Boulevard that left one person dead.
Upon arrival, authorities located a vehicle that had run off the right side of the road and struck a tree.
The driver identified as, Celeste Leveaux Lytle, was pronounced deceased at the scene and was the sole occupant of the vehicle.
Detectives confirmed that the vehicle was traveling west on Wilkinson Boulevard at a high rate of speed and was going too fast to negotiate a curve in the roadway.
The vehicle’s driver’s side tires reportedly struck the concrete median and then slid out of control and traveled off the right side of the road, striking both a utility pole and a tree.
Authorities say excessive speed is a contributing factor to the crash and impairment is suspected.
