CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Police are investigating after an 11-year-old girl was assaulted by a stranger in north Charlotte on Tuesday.
On December 10th, around 3:40 p.m., CMPD responded to reports of an assault near the intersection of Sunwalk Court and Suntrace Way.
According to police, the suspect reportedly grabbed the wrists of the victim soon after she got off of her school bus.
When CMPD arrived they began a comprehensive search for the suspect who was described as a 50-year-old, white man, who is approximately six feet tall with a beard.
At the time of the incident, the suspect was wearing a black long-sleeve shirt and black pants.
The victim was able to break away from the suspect and notify her guardian.
The officers were not able to locate the suspect.
The CMPD’s North Division is investigating the circumstances surrounding the assault and is working with CMS to ensure a higher police presence around school bus stops in that area.
