Cloudy Skies and More Rain to Come, but Sunshine in Sight

After yesterday’s rain, we’ll get a brief break from most showers through the daylight hours. Daytime highs won’t be quite as warm, with temps reaching the upper 50s this afternoon. Overnight will bring the return of showers and even warming temps as a warm front lifts across the region. Rain likely for Thursday – at times it could be heavy. Several spots along the Catawba river chain are already near, or above flood stage, so any additional heavy rainfall could cause problems – especially near the Mountain Island Lake Dam and for areas directly downstream. Rain wraps up late Thursday, with much cooler and drier air to follow. Highs for Valentine’s Day will only reach the low 50s. Saturday will bring more sunshine and chilly temps with overnight lows in the 20s and daytime highs reaching the upper 40s. Temps will rise into the upper 50s for the second half of the president’s day weekend with showers returning early next week.
