Man Found Dead In Cayce, SC Has Been Identified In Faye Swetlik Investigation
CHARLOTTE, N.C. – More pieces of pieces of this tragic puzzle are falling into place, but the complete picture is still not in focus. The man found dead in his home not far from where six-year-old Faye Swetlik’s body was found Thursday is 30-year-old Coty Taylor. He was a neighbor of the Swetlik’s, but not a relative or friend.
Investigators had spoken to Taylor inside his home during the search for Faye. He had no criminal history and was not known to law enforcement. Cayce Department of Public Safety Sgt. Evan Antley says, “Our evidence and our investigation does link these two together.”
What that link is remains a mystery. Investigators say they found important evidence while looking through neighborhood trash bins, but declined to elaborate. Antley says, “As part of that search, we located a critical item of evidence related to our investigation of bringing Faye Marie Swetlik home.”
Also new, heartbreaking 911 calls have been released of Faye’s mother begging for help. Selena Collins tells a dispatcher, “I can’t find my daughter. She was playing outside, and now I can’t find her.” Collins tells 911 that she saw her daughter about an hour earlier. “Um, I checked all, I checked all the houses in my neighborhood, and anybody that’s actually answered throughout, looking for her, too.”
Autopsies are planned in Charleston Saturday for both Faye Swetlik and Coty Taylor to determine cause of death.
