Panthers Fans Say Goodbye to Ron Rivera at Humane Society Fundraiser

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Fans got a chance to say goodbye to former Panthers head coach Ron Rivera on Saturday.

Riverboat Ron and his wife Stephanie teamed up with the Humane Society of Charlotte for a Panthers yard sale.

More than 3,000 people showed up and more than $30,000 was raised for the Humane Society’s new animal resource center.

“It’s just a testament to how great they are and how much the Carolina Panthers mean to the city of Charlotte,” said Donna Stucker, with the Humane Society of Charlotte.

A long line of fans took the opportunity to give their best wishes to Rivera.

“We always like Ron and we always try to support him,” explains fan Micheal Grant.

He was first in line and got his Super Bowl 50 football signed by Rivera.

“I think he’s one of the best coaches we ever had and I hate we lost him, but it’s a businesses sometimes and you have to do what you need to do,” Grant said.

Saturday’s yard sale featured memorabilia from players and coaches, past and present.

“We did not realize there would be this many people, but you know what, we’re not surprised because Ron and Stephanie are wonderful community ambassadors and we’re just going to miss them terribly,” Stucker says.
