Novant Health Healthy Headlines: Cancer Mortality Rate Continues To Decline
CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Cancer affects millions of Americans, but a recent study has shown that the cancer mortality rate has dropped 29 percent in the past three decades. The largest drop – 2.2 percent in 2017 – is the highest single year decline since record-keeping began in 1930. Dr. Joseph Merriman, a Novant Health medical oncologist, joins Rising to discuss why more people are surviving cancer and how treatments are improving.
