According to the Chester County Sheriff’s Office, 42-year-old Scott Buckner has been charged with the murder of 57-year-old Terry Jones on February 19th, 2020.
Authorities were called to a residence on Pinckney Road regarding a man who was unresponsive and not breathing inside the house.
When deputies arrived, they discovered Jones lying in a bedroom, with a gunshot wound to his forehead, and a large pool of blood in the hallway, according to a CCSO report.
The person who called the authorities told deputies that he forced entry into Jones’ residence after he attempted to contact Jones numerous times and noticed that Jones’ truck was missing.
According to an arrest warrant, Buckner stole Jones’ truck following the shooting and drove to a residence on West Elliott Street in Chester, where he was later arrested following a SWAT Standoff. He was found in possession of an AR-15 rifle and a pistol at the time of his arrest.
Buckner is charged with Murder, Use of Vehicle Without Permission with Intent to Deprive, Probation Violation, and Possession of Firearm or Ammunition by Person Convicted of Violent Felony. He is being held without bond.
A murder investigation led authorities to a residence where an armed man had to be removed by the SLED SWAT Team in Chester County on Monday, according to the Chester County Sheriff’s Office.
About three hours after deputies found a man dead inside a home on Pinckney Road in Chester County, deputies located a truck that belonged to the victim at a residence on West Elliott Street in Chester. Sheriff’s deputies set up a perimeter due to the nature and potential volatility of the investigation.
A woman who had been inside the residence managed to get outside and talk with deputies. She told deputies that a man, who was later identified as Scott Buckner, was inside the house and armed with a pistol and rifle.
A further investigation determined that Buckner had held the woman against her will for an extended period of time. Deputies called for assistance from the Chester Police Department and the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division.
Officials say SLED attempted to negotiate with Buckner, while he was still inside the house, from 5 p.m until 6:30 p.m, before they deployed less than lethal chemical agents and a robot inside the home.
At 6:30 p.m., the SLED SWAT Team entered the home and found Buckner unconscious but breathing. Medical professionals attended to Buckner after he was removed from the residence and he was taken to the Chester Regional Medical Center.
Buckner will be charged with kidnapping, possession of stolen property, and possession of a stolen vehicle, once he is released from the hospital. Authorities say the investigation is active and other charges are pending.
