Woman On Probation Charged With Trafficking Meth In Burke County

BURKE COUNTY, N.C. –A woman currently on probation is facing drug charges following an investigation in Burke County.

According to the Burke County Sheriff’s Office, officers with the North Carolina Probation and Parole began an investigation into the activities of 28-year-old Angeleigha Smith on February 11th, 2020.

Probation and parole officers along with Burke County Sheriff’s detectives made contact with Smith at a residence on Old Blue Ridge Road off Highway 70 in Connelly Springs.  Investigators found methamphetamine, heroin, and drug paraphernalia in the residence.

Smith was arrested and charged with Possession of Methamphetamine, Trafficking Opium or Heroin, Possession of Heroin, Simple Possession of a Schedule IV Controlled Substance, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, one count of Felony Probation Violation, and one count of Misdemeanor Probation Violation.

Smith was held at the Burke County Jail under a $28,000 secure bond.
