CHARLOTTE, N.C. — A shooting investigation is underway in north Charlotte after a 7-year-old boy was found with a gunshot wound.
According to CMPD, they responding to an assault with a deadly weapon call to Dervish Lane, near Prosperity Village, around 12:55 a.m. on Wednesday.
When officers arrived they found the 7-year-old victim shot in the shoulder inside the home. He was then transported and treated for his injury.
After an initial investigation it was revealed that the victim was sleeping when the home was shot into, police say.
This is an ongoing, active investigation.
