The Statesville Police Department says the human remains found at the dead end area of Sain Road in Iredell County on February 17, 2020 have been identified as Marty Teague.
Teague was reported missing on July 24, 2018. On August 30, 2019, detectives say they found Teague’s vehicle on an abandoned piece of property east of the city limits on Sain Road, according to a news release.
Search and rescue crews conducted a search of the area but overgrowth of vegetation made it impossible for searchers to access the entire area, according to the Statesville Police Department.
On February 17th, the Statesville Police Department received a call in reference to possible human remains found on Sain Road. All the evidence was collected and sent to the North Carolina Medical Examiner’s Office where they performed a forensic autopsy, according to a news release.
The medical examiner’s office confirmed the remains were Teague. They also said they do not believe foul play was suspected, according to officials.

Marty Dean Teague was last seen at his home around noon on Tuesday, July 24.
Police say he is described as a white male, roughly 220 pounds, with blue eyes and gray hair. Teague owns a green 1994 Jeep Cherokee with North Carolina license plate number FBV-6537.
