New Cinderella Movie Will Have Gender-less Fairy Godmother: Should Movie Remakes Stick To The Script Or Make Modern Changes?
CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Actor Billy Porter and Sony are flipping the script and adding a new twist to a movie remake of the classic story, Cinderella. In a new interview with CBS, Porter says that his character, the fairy Godmother, will be known as The Fab G, and will be gender-less. He says magic has no gender and he is proud of this ground-breaking role. Porter says, “This is a classic. This is a classic fairy tale, for a new generation and I think that the new generation is really ready. You know, the kids are ready. It’s the grown-ups that are slowing stuff down.”
Social media users, voicing their opinions saying:
“No, thank you. Godmother is historically a woman. So stick with how it is, please.”
“Perhaps it’s time you expand your horizons. After all, the story is a fairy tale.”
