Wendy Williams Says Nicki Minaj’s Sex Offender Husband Will Damage Rapper’s Career: “You’ve Ruined Everything”

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Nicki Minaj, the self-proclaimed Queen of Rap, finds herself in the midst of another media battle with talk show host Wendy Williams. This comes after Minaj’s husband, Kenneth Petty, was arrested last week for not registering as a sex offender in the state of California. Petty, who is now 41 years old, was convicted of attempted rape with a knife, of a 16-year-old, back in 1995. He also pleaded guilty to first-degree manslaughter in March 2006, serving seven years of his 10 year sentence.

Tuesday, Wendy Williams chimed in on whether or not Nicki should have married Petty, and in true Wendy fashion, she “said it like she meant it.”

“You should’ve never married him, because now you’ve ruined everything about what your brand could be again. You’re never going to stand a chance when you’re with a man who pulls a knife at rape point. A molester. A registered sex offender, who wasn’t even registered. You’re never going to stand a chance with John Q. Public,” said Williams.

Twitter users sounded off:
“Whew, I dont usually agree with Wendy about a lot of stuff, but she spot on here.”
“If Nicki puts out hot music, I doubt people will care to think about her brother’s issues or her husband’s past.”

Our question of the night: will marrying a registered sex offender hurt Nicki Minaj’s career?
