Wonderful Warmth Wanes by Weekend
Expect a noticeable drop in temperatures by Saturday and Sunday.
We kept the good times rolling this afternoon, as temperatures returned to the 70s with partly-to-mostly sunny skies. However, this increased warmth has provided fuel for pop-up thunderstorms, some of which could be strong or severe this evening. The Storm Prediction Center (SPC) has issued the northern half of the WCCB Charlotte viewing area a Marginal Risk (level 1 out of 5) for severe weather. While showers and storms will likely be few and far between this evening, some discrete cells could be strong enough to produce locally heavy rain, strong gusty winds, and small hail.
Looking ahead, we’ll be dealing with AM scattered showers and storms on Friday with highs in the 70s, but don’t get used to it. We’ll likely be the 50s and 60s for Saturday and Sunday with more widespread cloud cover and rain chances.
Friday: AM showers. PM clearing. High: 73°. Wind: SW 10-15. Gusts: 20-25.
Friday Night: Mostly cloudy. Low: 48°. Wind: N 5-10.
