Carolina Panthers Release Eric Reid And Colin Jones

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — The Carolina Panthers have released Eric Reid and Colin Jones.

Reid posted to Twitter saying “It’s been a pleasure Carolina! I enjoyed my time and the support I received from the fans, media, teammates, and staff.”

Reid was signed by the team during the first half of the 2018 season and started 29 games at safety in 2018 and 2019, according to the Panthers.

The Panthers say Reid recorded 120 tackles and four sacks last season.  This is the most tackles and sacks by a Panthers safety in a single season.

The Panthers also released safety Colin Jones.  He played the last eight seasons with the Panthers as a reserve safety and served as the captain of the special teams unit for the past two years, according to the Panthers.
