Humane Society of Charlotte Provides Educational Programming For Parents During COVID-19 Pandemic

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — The Humane Society of Charlotte invites the community to log on to the Humane Society of Charlotte’s Facebook page at 2 pm EST on Friday, March 20 to watch Storytime with Shelley and Shelter Animals.

In response to COVID-19 and CMS school closures, HSC plans to release this new virtual educational programming for kids of all ages. Led by HSC Humane Education Manager, Shelley Lyttle, the organization will post Facebook videos featuring storytime with adoptable dogs and cats at the shelter. By providing these videos, HSC hopes to help parents with at-home learning while continuing valuable humane education programming for children.

Humane Society Of Charlotte Humane Education Programming

It is the Humane Society of Charlotte’s goal to create safer and healthier communities for our children. HSC believes that by providing this program, it is equipping children with the tools necessary to think critically about the real-world challenges affecting people and animals in Charlotte and to work together to identify creative and innovative solutions.

Through their Humane Education programming, HSC aims to provide enriching and engaging educational experiences while helping children cultivate empathy, compassion and increase their understanding of personal responsibility for animals and people.
