CHARLOTTE, N.C. — A rabies alert was sent out to residents in Plaza Midwood after a raccoon tested positive for rabies, according to the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Animal Care and Control.
The alert was sent to residents in the Tippah Avenue area of Charlotte. Officials say there were no confirmed domesticated pet exposures and no confirmed human exposures.
This is the fifth animal in Mecklenburg County this year to test positive for rabies, according to a news release. All five cases involve raccoons.
