CLTGIVEPPE Collecting Masks, Gloves, Shoe Covers, Goggles And More

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – This weekend, maybe spend a few minutes looking around your house for items you can donate to local doctors and nurses in need. A group called CLTGIVEPPE has organized donation collection sites through the month of April. This is a grassroots movement, started here in Charlotte to help put a dent in what they are calling a “massive shortage” of gear to keep medical professionals safe.

Dr. Sheila Natarajan says, “If you go into your garage, a lot of us actually have N95 masks that are the construction grade. So if you look on the mask, it’ll actually say N95 or N95 approved. So that is valuable beyond measure for all of us in the healthcare world for protection. A lot of people have disposable nitrile or latex-free gloves, (or) shoe covers. Sometimes people have those in their home, they want cleaners or people to put on. Those are helpful.”

They also need medical gowns and goggles. The drop off days and locations are every Thursday and Saturday in April, so that starts next Thursday. The times will be from 12 noon to 4pm. The locations are at the Goodwill Opportunity Campus off Wilkinson Boulevard and the Goodwill Ballantyne off Lancaster Highway.
