Sheriff: Five Shot, One Dead In Lancaster County

LANCASTER, S.C. — Deputies say five people were shot and one died after a shooting outside a home on Memorial Drive on the west side of Lancaster Sunday night.

The Lancaster County Sheriff’s Office says they received multiple calls of shots fired at a home near the intersection of Memorial Drive and Mahaffey Line Drive around 10pm Sunday.

Upon arrival, two victims were at the scene and were transported to Medical University of South Carolina, according to a news release.

Deputies say two other victims had already been transported to the hospital by private vehicles.

A fifth victim reportedly drove herself to a relative’s home and was later taken to the hospital.

Shonquil Medley, 27, reportedly died at the hospital and two of the victims were airlifted to another medical facility for treatment, according to officials.

Authorities say all surviving victims are expected to recover from their injuries.  Reports say one victim is 19 years old and the others are in their twenties.

Investigators say several automobiles were processed and early information indicates a gathering was occurring at the home.

Officials say several children were also at the home when the shooting occurred.  Investigators believe the shots were fired from an automobile on Mahaffey Line Drive.

Deputies say this was a brazen, violent incident with multiple shots fired, multiple people injured, and one killed.
