Police Say Three People Have Been Charged For The Murder Of 27-Year-Old Katie Eckerd In North Charlotte

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Charlotte-Mecklenburg Detectives have charged two men and a minor for the deadly shooting that occurred in a parking lot of north Charlotte shopping center on July 21st.

Investigators say that 22-year-old Marquez Williamson, 25-year-old Bricard Washington, and a 16-year-old-male were taken into custody and charged with Murder, three counts of Attempted Robbery with a Dangerous Weapon, and Conspiracy to Commit Robbery with a Dangerous Weapon.

The juvenile male was also charged with three counts of Malicious Conduct by a Prisoner, according to the news release.

Officers say they stopped a vehicle, occupied by Williamson, Washington, and a minor, they had reason to believe was involved in the homicide.

The investigation into this case is active and ongoing.
