55-Year-Old Found Fatally Shot At Homeless Camp In Statesville

STATESVILLE, N.C. — A man has been arrested for his involvement in Statesville’s fourth homicide of the year after a 55-year-old man was discovered at a homeless camp Tuesday afternoon, officers say.

Police responded around 2:50 p.m. to the area of a car wash off Highway I-40 near Exit 148 after a report of heard shots fired in the area.

Upon arrival, Allen Bruce Alexander’s body was located in the wooded camp area. After talking to witnesses, officers identified and arrested 68-year-old George Charles Henry White III as the suspect in the murder case, police say.

White and Alexander, who knew each other, got into a dispute leading to the homicide.
