CATS To Experience Service Impacts In Uptown During Republican National Convention

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Expect delays in and around Uptown from Sunday, August 23rd to Monday, August 24th as the Republican National Convention is held in Charlotte.

The Charlotte Area Transit System says the following services will be impacted:

Bus Service:

  • Local routes 5 (Sprinter), 35 and 16
  • Express routes 40X, 46X, 52X, 64X, 65X, and 74X
  • MetroRAPID routes 48X, 53X, 63X, and 77X

LYNX Blue Line:

There will be no LYNX Blue Line service from the Carson Station to 7th Street Station.  CATS will implement a “LYNX Connector” bus-bridge from the Carson Station to 7th Street Station.  Each affected station will be served by a nearby bus stop.

The bus-bridge will go into effect at the start of service on Sunday, August 23 through end-of-service on Monday, August 24.

Other than the impacts stated above, CATS will continue to operate the modified schedule implemented on June 8. Normal service will resume on Tuesday, August 25. Regular local fare will be required and, as always, serves as a transfer.

More detailed information on these planned service impacts can be found at ridetransit.org or by calling CATS Customer Service at 704-336-RIDE (7433).
