CHARLOTTE, NC — Investigators say a driver of a Synder Lance truck hit and killed another employee on company property around 11 p.m. on August 27th.
Police say Robert Sledzewski, 57, was walking across the loading dock to his vehicle after clocking out when the 2015 Autocar XSpotter hit and killed him.
Driver of the Synder Lance truck Patrick O’Bryant was heading into the loading dock area to get a trailer, and did not see Sledzewski since the dock was poorly lit, and he was still wearing his navy blue uniform, according to a news release.
Investigators say O’Bryant was not impaired or speeding at the time of the incident, and there are no charges pending against him.
The Occupational Safety & Health Administration was contacted since this was a workplace fatality, according to a news release.
