Federal Authorities Charge 19 Individuals With Voter Fraud

GREENSBORO, N.C. — U.S. Attorney Matthew Martin for the Middle District Of North Carolina says nineteen people have been charged with voter fraud and related offenses.

On August 31st a federal grand jury indicted seven non-citizens for voting in the 2016 election, and one person for voting in 2018, according to a news release.

The jury says they charged Francisco Antonio-Aguirre, Roob Atar-Singh, Rosalva Negrete-Toledo, Dave Virgil, Eloy Zayas-Berrier, Emmanuel Atoyebi, and Mokhtar Gulaimid with violating Title 18 by claiming to be a citizen in order to vote and falsifying documents.

Federal authorities say twelve others were charged misdemeanors on August 13th for voting without citizenship in a federal election.

Ismay James, Donald Martyn, Chaim Pinto, John Rapsky, Baijoo Thomas, Shuqin Yin, Chirong Billings, Henry Araya-Vega, Rufina Concho-Locklear, Alberto Damaize-Job, Armando Nava-Juarez, and Manuel Valladares were all charged in the investigation, according to a news release.

Authorities say if found guilty these indivudauls could face up to 10 years in prison and fines up to $250,000.

The Department of Homeland Security say indictments allege that crimes have been committed, but each person is innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.
