Heat Streaks, Relief Returns Soon

We're tracking a weak cold front passage late Friday, which will sweep in cooler and drier air for the holiday weekend.

We’re just under 20 days to go until astronomical fall, and it’s finally going to start feeling like it soon. We can expect one more hot and humid day for our Friday before big changes slide into the forecast just in time for the holiday weekend. Many areas in the Piedmont will be pushing triple digits heat index values once again tomorrow, but a weak cold front will sweep through the Carolinas late Friday into Saturday. While the front won’t bring much in terms of rain, a large mass of cooler, drier air will settle into our area behind it. Highs should fall into the 70s and 80s and humidity will fall off of a cliff. Expect plentiful sunshine and comfortable conditions to continue through Labor Day before a more summerlike pattern returns late next week.
