38 CMPD Employees Have Tested Positive For COVID-19 Since March

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Thirty-eight Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department employees have tested positive for COVID-19 since March, according to a news release.

CMPD says their officers are frequently the first responders to potentially come in contact with someone who may be infected with the virus, and officer safety is a priority for their department.  As of September 9th, CMPD officials say only five employees are currently on leave due to COVID-19.
