Gastonia Police Asking For Public’s Help To Locate Homicide Suspect

GASTONIA, N.C. — Gastonia Police are asking for the public’s help to locate a suspect charged in the shooting death of a 18-year-old Bessemer City man that happened Saturday night.

Jabar Nichols was shot on a Southside Avenue porch in Gastonia, nearby the Gaston County Health Department, around 11 p.m., according to police. He was transported to CaroMont Regional Medical Center where he died due to his injuries.

According to police, one of two suspects in the case, a 17-year-old juvenile, has been arrested on a first degree murder charge. Police are looking for the second suspect, identified at 19-year-old Markevion Antwan Weldon of Gastonia, who is also charged with first degree murder, officials say.
