WNBA Star Maya Moore Marries Man She Helped Free From Prison

WNBA star Maya Moore made headlines when she announced she was now married to Jonathan Irons, the man she helped free from prison.

Moore put her career on hold in 2019 to help overturn Iron’s wrongful conviction.

In 1998 Irons was convicted of breaking into a Missouri home and shooting the homeowner twice. A judge sentenced him to 50 years in prison.

In March, Irons got his conviction overturned. A judge ruled that prosecutors had suppressed fingerprint evidence in his case.

He became a free man on July 1, 2020.
