CONCORD, N.C. — The free Touch-a-Truck event returns to Cabarrus Arena on October 3rd with over 100 large vehicles and machines to check out, according to a news release.
Cabarrus County officials say this year the event will take place as an interactive drive-thru, due to social distancing guidelines, starting at 9 a.m. at the Cabarrus Arena & Events Center.
Attendees can experience towering cranes, dump trucks, excavators, motorcycles, and different public safety vehicles such as firetrucks, police cruisers, and EMS ambulances, according to a news release.
Cabarrus County officials say anyone interested in attending the event must register their vehicle here under “2020 Touch-a-Truck Drive-Thru.”
From 9 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. the event will hold a sensory-friendly experience with limited noise and lights, according to a news release.
Byron Haigler, assistant director for Cabarrus County Active Living and Parks, says he talked with Cabarrus Arena officials originally about the idea last spring, and in its first year the event drew 4,500 visitors.
“Thanks to our incredible community, Touch-a-Truck became one of the largest machinery exhibitions in the region last year,” says Haigler. “We are thrilled to bring it back to continue educating and inspiring, while maintaining social distancing to ensure the safety of our guests.”
