CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Detectives say the driver of red 2000 Nissan pickup truck died on Saturday, September 19th after crashing into a tree.
The driver, 43-year-old Alvaro Garcia, crashed his car heading west on Heathway Drive towards North Tryon Street around 6 p.m., according to a news release.
Detectives say Garcia lost control and ran off the roadway to the left hitting a tree head-on when medics arrived and tried to save him, according to a news release.
Medics say Garcia died shortly after the crash around 6:40 p.m., after several witnesses tried to help him.
Police say Garcia was speeding at the time of the incident, but do not know yet if he was impaired.
