Rally For Peaceful Justice In Charlotte

CHARLOTTE — A peaceful stand for justice.  Hundreds turned out in Uptown Charlotte to honor the lives of three men while rallying for equal rights for people of all races.

Keith Lamont Scott was shot and killed by a Charlotte Mecklenburg Police Officer back in 2016, Justin Carr was shot and killed by a man while he was protesting the death of Keith Lamont Scott.  And, Jacob Blake, Jr., was shot seven times in the back by a police officer in Kenosha, Wisconsin.  He’s now paralyzed.

“We’re here just so you understand how hard it is for me to even figure out why in 2020 I have to explain to you all that my son is a human being. That we are human,” says Jacob Blake, Sr.

People of all races and backgrounds…symbols of peace and solidarity.

“We want to be able to stand with those that have been disenfranchised and marginalized in our community,” says Don Thomas with the group, My Brother’s Keeper Charlotte-Mecklenburg.

Organizers encouraged everyone who attended to vote.
