Florida Governor Wants To Crack Down On Violence During Protests
CHARLOTTE, N.C. —
Florida Governor, Ron Desantis wants to crack down on violence during protest.
He proposed a new law called the, “Combating Violence, Disorder, and Looting and Law Enforcement Protection Act.”
The bill would increase penalties for crimes committed during protests. It would also withhold state funding for any local municipalities that the defund the police.
There is also a measure calling for driver to not be charged if they kill or injure a protester with their vehicle while “fleeing for safety from a mob.”
