CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Charlotte expands the eligibility requirements for the Food Service Recovery Program allowing small businesses more opportunities to receive the grant, according to a news release.
City officials say after launching the application for the grant on Monday, September 21st, small businesses reached out with concerns and officials immediately adjusted requirements.
Originally businesses were required to earn at least $30,000 in gross sales in 2019, and that requirement has been taken away, according to a news release.
City officials say originally business owners could only apply for a grant for one business or one location, but now if a person owns more than one business, they are eligible to apply for more than one grant through this recovery program.
These businesses must be operating as a separate business with separately filed Taxpayer Identification Numbers (TIN) in order to be eligible, according to a news release.
City officials say the Food Recovery Grant Program provides $4 million to qualifying businesses that have been impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic, and music venues are also eligible to apply.
The application for the grant closes on Monday, October 19th, and funding will be awarded on a first come, first served basis, according to a news release.
City officials say, “Restaurants, bars, food trucks, caterers, and music venues with five or fewer employees are eligible for $10,000 in grants, and those with six or more employees can be awarded $25,000. Approximately 350 businesses will receive grant funding.”
