New Interactive Mural Connects Nature, Art History & Safety

Artist Mike Wirth consulted with his 11 year old daughter to create a mural experience that kids of all ages can interact with.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Hopscotch your way across a bit of art history at artist Mike Wirth‘s new mural at the Metropolitan.  The mural reflects the nature of the nearby Sugar Creek to the bustling Metropolitan shopping center.  According to Wirth, the lily pad design dips into art history, drawing inspiration from Claude Monet’s “Water Lilies.”

Wirth consulted with his 11 year old daughter to create the interactive hopscotch lily pad experience, encouraging kids of all ages to safely jump each leaf while crossing the street.

A prolific Charlotte muralist, some of Wirth’s other notable works can be found on The Peculiar Rabbit in Plaza Midwood, inside the Wooden Robot in NoDa and at Industrious NoDa.
