Heavy Rain, Storms Friday; Drier Weekend
Waking up to showers and moderate rainfall across the region. Keeping an eye out for localized flooding as rainfall rates could approach 1-2″ per hour. Rain will clear from west to east after lunchtime with the heaviest rain clearing the Charlotte metro area after 6pm. A few strongerΒ storms will be possible. If any severe storms develop the area to watch will be south and east of Charlotte. The biggest threat will be damagingΒ wind, but can’tΒ rule out an isolatedΒ tornado. Drying out for the weekend with highs reaching the low 80s. Unsettled pattern returns early next week with more rain. Cooler temps return by mid-week with highs only reaching the mid-70s.
