CMPD Detectives Investigate Fatal Car Collision In East Charlotte

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Detectives say driver of a 1993 Honda Accord died after hitting another car on Saturday, September 26th shortly before 10 p.m.

Driver of the Honda, 27-year-old Manuel Fuentes, was heading northeast on North Sharon Amity Road when he hit the concrete center-median and went into the southwest lanes colliding into a 2001 Cadillac SRX, according to a news release.

Police say both drivers were seriously injured and taken to a local hospital where Fuentes later died.

Officers say the driver of the Cadillac was not speeding or impaired at the time of the wreck, and Fuentes was not wearing a seatbelt and was speeding at the time of the collision.
