CONCORD, N.C. — Cabarrus County Courthouse officials say they will close Monday, September 28th to reschedule cases after a Court employee and a Magistrate’s Office employee tested positive for coronavirus.
Officials say more than a dozen employees may need to quarantine after coming into contact with these individuals, and this will greatly reduce their staff.
The Courthouse is expected to having staffing shortages through October 9th, and officials will shift District Court hearings to a virtual platform when possible, according to a news release.
Court officials say Superior Court cases scheduled after September 28th will not be affected.
Anyone with a District Court or Superior Court case scheduled for September 28th should call their lawyer or the Clerk of Court’s Office at 704-262-5500 on or after October 1st to confirm their rescheduled court date, according to a news release.
Officials say they will also post a new schedule here by the evening of Sunday, September 27th.
The Magistrate’s Office will remain open on Monday, September 28th, according to a news release.
The Cabarrus Health Alliance is telling anyone who came in close contact with these individuals, or anyone who visited the Courthouse, to take precautionary steps to reduce spreading the virus, including a 14-day self-isolation, according to a news release.
