CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police are investigating a homicide after a fatal shooting at an apartment complex near the University of North Carolina at Charlotte leaves one dead Monday night.
The shooting happened around 9:30 p.m. at the off-campus apartments, Arcadia Student Living Complex, near Falling Waters Court.
Police responded to after reports of an assault with a deadly weapon and upon arrival they located a victim with gunshot wound in an apartment. The victim, identified as 20-year-old Yazeed Alsawalha, was transported by Medic to Atrium Health Main where they were later pronounced dead, police say.
The investigation into this case is active and ongoing.
