Site Work Underway at Panthers New Team HQ & Practice Facility in Rock Hill

ROCK HILL, S.C. – Work is underway at the site of the Panthers new development in Rock Hill.

It comes as the team releases new renderings for its future team headquarters and practice facility.

Leaders hope the 240 acre site will be a destination, not just for football, but for restaurants, retail, and recreation.

“The long-term impacts, I would call them transformational,” said Panthers Chief Operating Officer Mark Hart, during a Panthers town hall on Tuesday night.

The mixed-use development will be centered around a practice facility known as “The Rock.”

“It represents a state-of-the-art training facility, the largest in the NFL,” Hart said.

A new exit off I-77 will eventually provide direct access to the Panthers development.

The property will also include public spaces, including a 5,000 seat outdoor stadium, a public plaza known as “The Piazza,” and an open space called, “The Grove.”

“There’s lots of streams, lots of topography changes, and we wanted to make sure this was pedestrian-friendly, this was biker-friendly, and this was sustainable,” Hart said.

38,000 square feet of the practice facility will also be used for public rehab for people recovering from injuries.

“This space will be used both by the public and the Panthers football players and athletes,” Hart said.

The team is also partnering with Atrium Health to build a sports medical office on the property.

At the construction site, crews are beginning work on foundations this month.

The first steel beams are expected to rise next Spring, with the goal of having the facility ready to open for Panthers training camp in 2023.
