Summit Seltzer Is Now Open
Charlotte's first and only seltzer bar sells out its grand opening
CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Summit Seltzer, Charlotteβs first craft seltzery, is now open.Β Located at 2215 Thrift Road in the Wesley Heights neighborhood, Summit Seltzer serves its house-fermented draft alcoholic and non-alcoholic seltzers in the 3,880 square foot taproom, on the patio, and in crowlers that will be available for purchase at the bar.
βWe are beyond excited to bring the very first seltzery to Charlotte,β says Kristin Cagney, Summit Seltzer owner and founder. βWe are incredibly proud of our craft seltzer, which we make using real, natural ingredients for flavoring, producing a higher quality, more colorful seltzer than the commercial seltzer most of us are used to drinking.β
Summit Seltzer required reservations on Friday and Saturday in the first two weeks of opening (September 18, 19, 25, 26) and is open for walk-in guests Sunday through Thursday. Reservations are prepaid for $15 per person and include two seltzers plus a limited edition souvenir cup and koozie.
βWe believe reservations will help our guests feel safe and cut down on potential waits when we open the doors,β says Cagney. βBut whether you walk in or reserve a table in advance, weβve set up the space with ample outdoor seating and plenty of socially distant indoor seating to ensure everyone has a good time and feels comfortable.β
COVID regulations and precautions at Summit Seltzer include enforcement of mask wearing for anyone who is not seated at a table, hand sanitizer available throughout the seltzery, contactless menus, and limiting capacity to 50 guests inside (50% of the overall capacity). Summit Seltzerβs 750 square foot event space will be used for indoor seating until events can be safely held. Outdoor games, which were part of the initial opening plans, will not yet be offered in order to keep the space as contact-free as possible.
Since opening, Summit Seltzer offers six flavored hard seltzers, in addition to a non-alcoholic seltzer and four cocktails made with a 15% alcoholic seltzer base. Additional flavors and cocktails will be added as they are developed.
The first featured flavors are: Lime Cucumber, Blue Raspberry, Pineapple JalapeΓ±o, Limeade, Dry Hop Pineapple, Grapefruit (non-alcoholic), Lemon (non-alcoholic), and βToast to Charlotte,β a Blueberry Raspberry Acai seltzer that will raise funds for Read Charlotte, a local non-profit which promotes a cause dear to the heart of one of Cagneyβs friends who recently passed away. Cocktails made with the 15% alcoholic seltzer base will include a cosmopolitan seltzer, strawberry seltzerita, mango seltzerita, jalapeΓ±o seltzerita, seltzer mule, and seltzer mojito.
Summit Seltzer also offers a selection of wine and local craft beer.
The seltzery will be open Monday through Thursday, 4:00 – 10:00 p.m., Friday, 1:00 – 11:00 p.m., Saturday, 11:00 a.m. – 11:00 p.m., and Sunday, 11:00 a.m. – 8:00 p.m.
