Warmth Crescendoes, Rainy Weekend Ahead

Enjoy the warm sunshine today! There may not be many more 80º days this year.

We’ve gone eight straight days without rain in the Charlotte area, and today should end up being the ninth. Sunny skies continue to bombard the Carolinas this Thursday afternoon, which should help the Queen City reach into the 80s for the second day in a row. While the High Country will be cooler in the lower 70s, a steady diet of sunshine should keep things comfortable. The dry times’ days may be numbered, though, thanks to Hurricane Delta.

Currently a Category 1 hurricane, Delta will likely strengthen before making landfall somewhere between Houston and New Orleans before sweeping northwestward and making a close pass to the Carolinas. Expect cloudy skies to return as soon as overnight Thursday into Friday, although rain chances will likely stay at bay until Saturday morning. Most models agree on anywhere between a half-inch and an inch-and-a-half for the WCCB Charlotte viewing area, increasing as one goes west. Fortunately, the severe risk appears to remain low for now. Stay tuned!
