Sunshine Wanes, Messy Weekend Ahead

Clouds will build into the area this afternoon, but the bulk of the rain chances ahead don't arrive until the weekend.

Happy Friday! As the workweek comes to an end, so does the streak of sunshine we’ve seen since the start of the month. Expect slightly cooler temperatures this afternoon in the 60s and 70s across the WCCB Charlotte viewing area this afternoon as mostly cloudy skies take over. The increasing cloud coverage – and eventual rain chances – is all thanks to Hurricane Delta, which regained major hurricane strength Thursday evening. As Delta makes landfall and moves inland by the weekend, rain chances will significantly bump up for both Saturday and Sunday. While both days won’t be pleasant, Sunday does appear to be the wetter of the two weekend days, as 1-3″ of rain should fall across our area through Monday afternoon. Highs should remain in the 60s and 70s for the next several days.

Today: Mostly cloudy. High: 72°. Wind: NE 5-10.

Tonight: Cloudy with scattered showers late. Low: 65°. Wind: SE 5-10.

Saturday: Scattered gusty showers. High: 70°. Wind: SE 5-10. Gusts: 15-25.

Saturday Night: Scattered showers and storms. Low: 65°. Wind: SE 5-10. Gusts: 15-25.

Sunday: Rain continues. High: 73°. Wind: SE 5-10. Gusts: 15-25.
