Chad Ochocinco Admits He Bought Fake Watches And Jewelry For Years

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Former NFL player Chad Ochocinco Johnson is explaining how he’s been able to maintain his wealth after nine years of not playing football. The 42-year-old appeared on the I Am Athlete podcast and revealed that he’s been buying replicas of expensive watches and fake jewelry for years. He points out: women who he dated had already researched his wealth online, and he didn’t feel the need to impress anyone.

He says, “Where did I get my earrings from? From Claire’s with a(n) (American Express) Black Card. The whole message was, I’m still rich. I’m still me. I don’t really need it. Who am I trying to impress? Watches 50, 60, 70 thousand dollars. What time is it real quick? 10 o’clock. How much that cost? Nothing. Time is free, so why am I paying for it?”

Instagram flooded his comments with support. Some saying, “This mentality goes over so many people’s heads,” and, “More people need to think like this. It’s not what you wear. It’s how you wear it.”

Our question of the night: what’s the most luxurious item you would splurge on?
