CMPD: Two 16-Year-Olds Charged With Murder In Southwest Charlotte Homicide

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Charlotte-Mecklenburg detectives say two 16-year-olds have been arrested and charged with murder after a man was fatally shot in southwest Charlotte Wednesday night.

The shooting happened shortly before 10 p.m. on Farmhurst Drive, off of Nations Ford Road.

When officers responded to the assault with a deadly weapon report they found a man, identified as 21-year-old Jevon Ayala, with a gunshot wound. MEDIC pronounced Ayala dead at the scene.

The teens, who have not been identified, are facing charges of murder, robbery with a dangerous weapon and possession of a firearm by a minor. One suspect was also charged with carrying a concealed weapon.

The investigation into this case is active and ongoing.
