Foggy Start, Late Week Impacts from Zeta
Waking up to widespread dense fog this morning. Visibility down to less than 1/4 of a mile in many locations. Fog will clear by mid-morning. Temps will reach the mid-70s under partly sunny skies today. Zeta is forecasted to make landfall late Wednesday between the Louisiana and Alabama gulf coast. This will make the 11th US landfalling storm of the year, and if it makes landfall in LA, the 5th of the year – both of whichΒ are record. This storm will move quickly to the north and east bringingΒ rain to the Carolinas beginning late Wednesday. Rain and storms possible Thursday with 1-3″ of rainfall likely, however locally higher amounts up to 4″ of rainfallΒ for the higher elevations will be possible. IsolatedΒ severe weather also something to watch for with damaging wind gusts and isolated tornadoes not out of the question. This storm will move quickly with drier weather returning for the weekend. Much cooler for the holiday with temps only reaching the upper 50s to lower 60s.
