UNION COUNTY, N.C. — Union County deputies are looking for three men after a man was shot and robbed while working on a four-wheeler outside of a home Tuesday night.
Detectives responded to Macedonia Church Road around 10 p.m. after reports of a shooting. When officers arrived they found a man outside the home suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. He was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries, officials say.
Through an investigation officers determined that three armed men wearing masks and hoodies walked up to the house and saw the victim, who was outside working on a four-wheeler that he was preparing to sell.
At least one of the armed suspects fired multiple rounds striking the victim, deputies say. After the shooting, the suspects stole a phone from the victim as well as forced the victimβs wife to take them inside the home to give them cash and other valuables.
The unknown suspects then ran off. A Monroe Police K-9 unit responded and identified a possible track leading to W.G. Medlin Road where a vehicle was possibly waiting the suspects return.
The victimβs wife was not injured during the robbery.
Detectives are asking anyone with information to contact Union County Crimestoppers at 704-283-5600 or the Sheriffβs Office at 704-283-3789.
