Zeta Brings Wind Damage, Flash Flooding to Region

Zeta made landfall late yesterday afternoon near Cocodrie with the eye of the storm passing right over New Orleans. More than 800,000 people in the southeast are without power. As of 10 am the storm is still a tropical storm with sustained winds of 60mph. Several areas across the region have reports significant wind damage. The damaging wind threat will continue into the afternoon. Expect more power outages with the strongest winds 50-60 mph gusts over the next few hours. Flash flood warnings have been issued across the higher elevations. Conditions will rapidly improve late this afternoon. But, expect breezy conditions with winds 10-15mph and gusts 30mph overnight. Sunshine returns tomorrow. Highs will reach the upper 60s. Rain chances return Sunday. Much cooler next week with highs not getting out of the mid-50s Monday. We might have our first frost of the season with lows falling to the mid-30s.
