Union County Detectives Arrest Kannapolis Man For Murder After Airbnb Shooting

INDIAN TRAIL, N.C. — Union County Sheriff’s detectives say 21-year-old Diontre Lipscomb is under arrest for the murder of Jimman Rice, 34, after a fatal shooting at an Airbnb party on August 30th.

Investigators say Lipscomb was charged, after being discharged from the hospital, for first degree murder and possession of a firearm by a felon on Friday, October 30th.

Lipscomb shot and killed Rice, and evidence suggests the two were in an ongoing dispute, according to a news release.

Detectives concluded Rice and Lipscomb shot at one another after they found several shell casings and firearms during their investigation.

Lipscomb is still being booked at the Union County Jail where he faces charges, according to a news release.

INDIAN TRAIL, N.C. — Union County Sheriff’s Office investigate a shooting on Idlewild Road killing one man and injuring another.

Police say they responded to multiple gunshots at an Airbnb pool party around 2 a.m. on August 30th.

One man was taken to Novant Matthews in a private vehicle where he later died, according to a news release.

A second man was taken to Atrium Main where he is being treated for his injuries, according to a news release.

Detectives say 200-300 people were attending the pool party where the shooting took place.

The Airbnb property was rented for two days through on individual, and the incident occurred on the private road leading up to the main building, according to a news release.

Detectives say the shooting does not seem to be a random event, and they are still investigating, but do not currently have any suspect details to release.
