Elks Lodge Gives Grant To Gaston County’s Meals On Wheels

GASTONIA, N.C. — Gastonia Elks Lodge is giving a $2,500 Gratitude Grant to the Meals on Wheels-Gaston program this year, according to a news release.

Gastonia Elks Lodge officials say every year they give grants to four different organizations in the community, through funding from the Elks National Foundation.

The Meals on Wheels-Gaston program ensures that seniors can access nutritious meals, since many of them lack family support, mobility, or resources to provide themselves with this necessity, according to a news release.

Program officials say seniors also get a friendly visit each day from a volunteer, and these volunteers perform a safety check with each meal delivery.

Any seniors who do have mobility can also visit six different sites to get meals in Gaston County including Belmont, Bessemer City, Cherryville, Dallas, Gastonia, and Mount Holly.
