CMS Delays Return to In-Person Learning for Most Middle School Students Until January 5th
CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The coronavirus is impacting the return to in-person learning for Charlotte-Mecklenburg middle school students.
Most will now return January 5th instead of November 23rd, because more than 100 school bus drivers are on leave.
The district currently doesn’t have enough bus drivers to make the original plan work.
A smaller number of middle school students who go to K-8 schools will return sooner — on November 30th.
Nearly 42,000 CMS students are already back in the classroom, most in elementary schools.
The district is reporting 11 new COVID-19 cases among students last week and 29 positive staff members.
The cases involve 27 schools.
